Straight answers on cost and outlook
You hear what a procedure involves and what it costs before anything is scheduled — and when a case belongs with a specialist, we say so and help you get there.
Our story
A Tambaram West fixture since 2005
Visha Pet Clinic opened off the Irumbuliyur signal in 2005, and 21 years later it is still where the neighbourhood brings its animals first.
What began as a small local practice now handles everything from a first-year kitten’s vaccination card to complex surgical cases — without losing the walk-in-and-we-know-your-pet feel that made it a local habit in the first place.
The services grew in the order owners needed them. Consultations and vaccinations first, then surgery, then lab work and imaging, then grooming, boarding and a stocked pharmacy — because sending a worried owner across Chennai for a blood test or a prescription made no sense.
A second premises, Visha Pet Clinic & Shop in Maraimalai Nagar, now carries that same walk-in habit further down GST Road, with Dr. Umamaheswari seeing patients there and a pet shop stocked alongside the consulting room.
- Same clinic since 2005, now in two neighbourhoods
- Walk-in consultations seven days a week, at both
- Surgery, dental, imaging and lab work in-house at Tambaram West
- Printed records that travel between both premises

Questions we are asked on the phone
If your question is not here, call the clinic — somebody will pick up during opening hours.
Do I need an appointment, or can I walk in?
Walk-ins are welcome for consultations during opening hours at both premises — Tambaram West (10 AM – 9 PM) and Maraimalai Nagar (9 AM – 10 PM), every day. A quick call to 97866 69571 (Tambaram West) or 95666 59030 (Maraimalai Nagar) before you set out means we can tell you how busy the branch is and keep your wait short. Surgery and grooming are scheduled in advance.
Where exactly is Visha Pet Clinic in Tambaram West?
We are at Nithyananda Nagar, Irumbuliyur, Tambaram West, Chennai – 600045, Tamil Nadu — near the Irumbuliyur signal, behind Kaliamman Koil. The clinic is a short drive from Selaiyur, Chromepet, East Tambaram and Perungalathur.
Where exactly is Visha Pet Clinic & Shop in Maraimalai Nagar?
We are at No. 581, Velli Veethiyar Street, Maraimalai Nagar – 603209, Tamil Nadu, on the GST Road corridor. It's a short drive from Singaperumal Koil, Guduvancheri, Urapakkam and Chengalpattu.
What are your opening hours?

Which animals do you treat?
Dogs and cats make up the great majority of our patients, and both are treated across every service we offer. We also see rabbits, birds and other small companion animals for consultations — call ahead so we can confirm we are the right clinic for your pet.
Can I get my pet vaccinated without a prior record?
Yes. Bring whatever paperwork you have, and if there is none we will examine your pet, start a fresh schedule and issue a printed vaccination card. This is common with rescued and adopted pets, and with families who have recently moved to Chennai.
Do you handle emergencies?
We handle urgent cases during opening hours at both premises and will always try to see a genuine emergency the same day. Call 97866 69571 for Tambaram West or 95666 59030 for Maraimalai Nagar before travelling so the branch is ready for you, and describe the situation — it tells us whether to prepare for surgery.
How long has the clinic been open?
Visha Pet Clinic has practised in Tambaram West since 2005 under Dr. S. Kabilan, and has since expanded to a second premises, Visha Pet Clinic & Shop in Maraimalai Nagar, under Dr. Umamaheswari. Most new patients still arrive on a neighbour's recommendation.
