21 years in the same neighbourhood
Visha Pet Clinic opened in 2005 near the Irumbuliyur signal in Tambaram West, and has practised there ever since under Dr. S. Kabilan.
A clinic that has been in one place for two decades ends up knowing things a newer practice cannot: which streets flood, which breeds the neighbourhood keeps, and which families are on their third dog.
That is the actual argument for a local vet. Continuity is diagnostic. When the same person has examined an animal every year since it was a puppy, a change in weight or coat or temperament is obvious rather than debatable — and it is usually the obvious changes that matter.
The clinic grew from a small consulting practice into a full-service one: vaccinations and consultations first, then surgery, then grooming and a stocked pharmacy, because sending owners across Chennai for a prescription made no sense. What has not changed is the size of the team you deal with, or the fact that you can walk in on a Tuesday afternoon and be seen.
Most of our new patients still arrive because a neighbour sent them. After 21 years that remains the measure we pay attention to.

How we work
We tell you what we do not know
Veterinary medicine has limits, and so does a neighbourhood clinic. When a case belongs at a specialist referral centre, we say so and help you get there instead of experimenting.
Cost is discussed before, not after
You will hear what a procedure costs, and what the realistic alternatives are, before anything is scheduled. Nobody should learn the price of surgery at the counter.
The record follows the animal
Vaccination cards, checkup findings and surgical notes are kept and printed, so a decision this year can be weighed against last year rather than guessed at.
Calm handling first
A frightened animal is harder to examine and more likely to be hurt. Time spent settling a patient is not wasted time — it is most of the job.
